Jae
Y. Kim is a first-generation Korean-American Attorney
at Law licensed to practice in New Jersey and New York.
Mr. Kim is former bankruptcy partner with a prominent
New Jersey law firm representing over 85 banks and mortgage
servicers, including Hanvit America Bank, Washington
Mutual Home Loans, FreddieMac and FannieMae. More recently,
he has worked in the Business Litigation/Creditor's
Rights department of national law firm head quartered
in Newark, New Jersey. Mr. Kim's practice has an emphasis
on commercial & business law with a concentration
on bankruptcy law, commercial transactions, real estate
and commercial litigation including collections law.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Boston
University, Boston, Massachusetts in 1992 and his Jurist
Doctorate from Quinnipiac College School of Law, Hamden,
Connecticut, in 1995. Mr. Kim is admitted to practice
before the State Courts of New Jersey and New York as
well as the United States District Court for the District
of New Jersey and the United State Court of Appeals
for the Third Circuit. Mr. Kim is a member of the American
Bar Association, Association of the Federal Bar of the
State of New Jersey, New Jersey State Bar Association
(Debtor-Creditor Section), Bergen County Bar Association,
New York State Bar Association and the New York County
Lawyer's Association. He is currently an adjunct professor
of Bankruptcy Law at Fairleigh Dickinson University,
has lectured for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing
Legal Education on collection law and has been a panel
member at the Honorable William H. Gindin Bankruptcy
Bench/Bar Conference on Hot Topics in Chapter 13 Practice.
He has had two (2) of his more notable cases published
in opinions, In re: Ehret, 238 B.R. 85 (Bkrptcy., D.N.J.
1999) and Lever et al. vs. Thomas, et al., 340 N.J.
Super. 198 (App. Div. 2001). Mr. Kim is conversant in
Korean and shares a home with his family in Palisades
Park, New Jersey.
